Octavia Cade

I am a New Zealand writer with a Masters in biology and a PhD in science communication. I have a particular interest in how science is presented in science fiction and horror, and have had a number of academic papers published on the subject, as well as several conference presentations. I've sold over 50 short stories to markets including Clarkesworld, Asimov's, and Strange Horizons. Two poetry collections, a short story collection, a handful of novellas, a climate fiction novel, and an essay collection on food and horror have all been published by various small presses. I have won three Sir Julius Vogel awards for speculative writing, and am a BSFA and Bram Stoker nominee. I attended Clarion West 2016 and was the writer in residence at Massey University in 2020. HWA and SFWA member.
