A Rhode Islander living in Australia for over 20 years, Lauren Elise Daniels (L. E. Daniels) has worked in publishing since '92. She attained an MFA from Emerson College and has edited over 100+ titles, including the Aurealis Award-winning Relics, Wrecks and Ruins (2021), Aiki Flinthart's legacy anthology co-edited with Geneve Flynn.
Lauren's first novel, Serpent's Wake: A Tale for the Bitten shortlisted for Singapore's Half the World Global Literati Prize, ranked 4th in the People's Choice Award, shortlisted with Queensland Writer's Centre's 2023 Adaptable: Turning the Page to Screen program, and appears in the HWA Mental Health Initiative's Notable Works collection. Her bestselling craft book, Winning Short Story Competitions: Essential Tools for the Serious Writer, co-authored with C. Sawyer, was published in 2020.
Lauren's recent short stories appear in Hush! Don't Wake the Monster, Generation X-ed, Midnight Magazine, and We are Providence, the latter appearing on the 2022 Bram Stoker Award Preliminary Ballot and a finalist for the 2022 Aurealis Award for best anthology.
Her poetry is currently among the finalists for the 2022 Australian Shadows Awards, has been published by the HWA's Of Horror and Hope, and will appear later this year in Black Spot Books' Under Her Eye and Crystal Lake Publishing's Dastardly Damsels. Her true ghost stories appear in Timber Ghost Press' Out of Time True Paranormal Encounters and with 34 Orchard later this year.
