J.S. Gariety is currently writing her debut novel The Weight of Gold, which is the culminating project of many years writing about mental illness for her blog. Besides her blog, Gariety has had a personal essay published for the Women’s Resource Center’s event “Voices of Courage” at Brigham Young University. During her education at BYU she worked as a senior editor for the student journal, Stance for the Family as well as editor in chief for the associated Stance for the Family blog. In 2020 Gariety completed her bachelor's in Creative Writing and English with duel concentrations in nonfiction and fiction at Southern New Hampshire University. She writes personal nonfiction, literary fiction, and high fantasy. She's also a freelance editor. In both her fiction and nonfiction works, Gariety advocates for women and mental health. Gariety enjoys sewing, baking, and camping with her husband and two kids. She and her husband are also foster parents.
